Infamous Cleveland Browns Quarterback Jersey Has Been Retired Now that the Cavs Have Broken the Cleveland Curse (Pic)
In a few months, Cleveland sports fans will come back down to earth. The championship euphoria will fade, they’ll see that the Indians have been eliminated from the playoffs, and that the Browns are 0-5 even with Robert Griffin III, and all the pessimism and negativity will come flooding back.
But now? Right now Cleveland sports fans are on cloud nine, and everything feels different. The Cavaliers are NBA champions, and for the first time in 52 years The Land is filled with nothing but joy and hope and optimism. And that has led Brokaw Inc, the Cleveland ad agency behind the infamous Cleveland Browns quarterback jersey, to make a pretty bold decision:
That’s right. The Cleveland Browns quarterback jersey, the one that used duck tape to list every Browns QB since 1998, has been retired.
“It’s a new day in Cleveland,” Brokaw said in an email to ESPN. “We want to be a part of that. The Dark cloud has been lifted.”
Again, we’ll see how they feel in November when it’s 34º and RGIII’s QB rating is 67. But you can’t begrudge them for enjoying the fun while it lasts.
