Report: Durant’s Friendship With Draymond During Playoff Series Pissed Off Thunder Teammates (Audio)
Anytime a prominent player leaves a team for another, all of a sudden these ‘leaks’ about their behavior seem to find their way to the public.
NBA players or any athletes being friends is nothing new or shocking, but when that friendship starts to hurt the team that you’re on and messes with the vibe, it is a big issue. Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green was public enemy #1 throughout the playoffs, especially during the Thunder-Warriors series when he popped Steven Adams in his man-region multiple times.
A few Thunder teammates were not too pleased about how Durant & Draymond were buddy-buddy while he was still kicking them in the balls.
Adrian Wojnarowski’s “The Vertical Pod” featured Woj and Jeff Van Gundy discussing Durant’s exit. During the conversation, a #WOJBOMB was dropped:
“I know Russell (Westbrook) was bothered by — and some other teammates were too — of, like, there was some knowledge there that Draymond (Green) was in contact with Kevin (Durant) all season long and they’re in a playoff series and I know there was some conversation around the Thunder team of ‘Hey man, this guy kicked Steven Adams in the nuts twice in this series and what are you doing hanging out with this guy? What’s the relationship? We’re trying to beat these guys.’”
