Former Cowboys WR Michael Irvin Blasts J.J. Watt For The Texans Not Winning (Video)
NFL Network analyst and Hall of Fame former wide receiver of the Dallas Cowboys Michael Irvin absolutely blasted Houston Texans star J.J. Watt for the team not winning.
NFL Network finished up their ‘Top 100 NFL players’ poll this week and while many see it as just a poll, Michael Irvin took it very serious when Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly came in 7th while Watt came in 3rd.
Irvin got into a fiery debate with analysts and former NFL cornerbacks Ike Taylor and Eric Davis explaining that Kuechly makes his teammates better while Watt does not.
“I tell people all the time that defense doesn’t win championships,” Irvin said. “It’s the turnovers and the scoring defense that wins championships. Luke Kuechly, he scores touchdowns on interceptions. He doesn’t have to go on offense to score. He scores (from) his main position.
“I don’t want to just see you raise your hand and you playing great. I want to see you make others play great. That’s what Luke Kuechly does.”
“Whose fault is it? He’s the star of the team,” Irvin roared. “If the Dallas Cowboys lose on my watch, it’s my fault. If you’re the baddest man on the team, you’ve got to take it both ways when it ain’t going right and you ain’t winning, that’s on you.
“J.J. Watt’s been the baddest man in the league and they haven’t gotten close to any kind of championship.”
“I’m taking Luke Kuechly,” Irvin said. “I’m taking the middle linebacker who makes everyone around him play well.”
The conversation got so ridiculous, Texans cornerback Charles James took to Twitter to share his thoughts.
