Bulls Win NBA Summer League on Denzel Valentine Buzzer-Beater (Video)
The Chicago Bulls beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on a Denzel Valentine buzzer-beater to take the 2016 NBA Summer League crown on Monday.
The Bulls erased a five-point deficit to tie the game at 82-82 at the end of the first overtime. Valentine got the ball on an inbound play with 11.7 seconds left on the clock. Then, after taking the ball outside the arc, he worked it in to the top of the key, stepped back, pivoted, and fired a jumper that went in right after the final buzzer sounded.
Take a look:
The really crazy thing? That was not Valentine’s first buzzer-beater on the night. He also nailed the shot that sent the game to overtime in the first place.
For the most part, Denzel Valentine was having a rough night on Monday. He came into the fourth quarter having gone 0-6 from the field, including 0-4 from three-point range. However, after T-Wolves point guard Tyus Jones gave his team the lead with a ridiculous three-pointer with three seconds remaining in regulation, Valentine told Bulls coach Charley Henry to give him the ball. Then he repaid Henry’s trust by nailing the buzzer-beater:
I guess after that play, giving the ball to Valentine at the end of overtime was a no-brainer.
