Report: Cowboys LB Rolando McClain Tested Positive For “Purple Drank”
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain was suspended 10 games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy back in June.
On Tuesday, reports state McClain was suspended 10 games for testing positive for “Purple Drank,” which is a slang term for a concoction that includes a prescription-strength cough syrup often mixed with Sprite. Jason Cole of Bleacher Report reported McClain is abusing codeine and has put on 40 pounds as a result of his habit.
“Even we don’t know all the details,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said when asked about McClain as he walked off the field after Tuesday’s walk-through. “We just don’t know.”
When asked whether McClain’s career is over, coach Jason Garrett said, “We’re focused on the guys who are here.”
The only thing McClain has going for him at the moment is that Jerry Jones is that one owner in the league that will deal with problematic players.
