Internet Reacts to Michael Phelps Beating Chad Le Clos in 200m Butterfly Finals (Tweets)

We all know the backstory by now.

Michael Phelps had dominated the 200-meter butterfly event at the Olympics, winning the gold in 2004 and 2008.  But in 2012 in London, it was Chad le Clos who shocked the world by upsetting Phelps in the 200-meter butterfly final to take the gold.

Four years later, Phelps was  looking for some revenge in the pool at Rio.

Prior to their semi-final heat on Monday, while waiting backstage, cameras caught Phelps directing a death stare at Le Clos, which sent the internet into a frenzy.

And on Tuesday, after Phelps beat LeClos and the other six competitors in the 200-meter butterfly finals to take home his 20th career Olympic gold medal, the internet went nuts once again.
