Not many people can say they beat the legend Michael Phelps, and Joseph Schooling, who met him back in 2008 can add his name to that very short list of people who did.
It was on Friday when Joseph Schooling made history and beat out Michael Phelps in the 100m butterfly to win Singapore’s first ever Olympic gold medal.
On that same day, Twitter user @sabwow realized this was the same guy who she was matched with on Tinder back in April, but didn’t reply.
And look at him now.
and not replying to his message was my greatest failure

The tweet has become so legendary that even NBC Olympics official Twitter account retweeted it:

….and then came the replies:

@sabwow : I went viral & I didn’t even tag him or use any hashtags.
Me: You’re like J. Cole. He went platinum with no features.

@sabwow get in line, you gloryhunting gold-digger LOL!!
At least you’re famous now – all 15 minutes of it. And yes, he’s awarded S$1m

@sabwow what kills me is that you responded with a smiley heart emoji, giving him so much confidence, then stopped responding.

@sabwow reply with “sorry I fell asleep” or “sorry I was in the shower”
