Mike Tyson Stole an Ice Cream Bar at the U.S. Open, and Of Course No One Did Anything to Stop Him
Mike Tyson took his daughter, who is both a tennis fan and player, to the U.S. Open this week, which is a nice thing to do. He also swung by a Ben and Jerry’s kiosk in the Arth Ashe Stadium to grab an ice cream bar. That’s also nice.
He didn’t pay for the ice cream. That’s NOT nice.
And, judging from the account of a worker at the venue, he knew exactly what he was doing. But he also knew that he was Mike Tyson, and no one would stop him, because that would be like trying to pull a gazelle from the mouths of lions in the African savannah.
Said the unnamed worker, “I was like, ‘Are you serious? Am I imagining this?’ (Tyson) was like, ‘I feel like having an ice cream’ and he just took it. What are you going to do, fight him? He’s Mike Tyson.”
He was asked to pay for the ice cream bar (Half Baked, for those scoring at home), but he either didn’t hear or pretended not to hear and strolled off. He then went to the presidential suite with Alec Baldwin and Jewel to pose for pictures. I’m guessing there may have been free ice cream in the presidential suite if he had just waited a minute, but then we wouldn’t have this terrific story about Mike Tyson stealing ice cream.
