Nearly 1,000 People in Vegas Bet on the Cleveland Browns to Win the Super Bowl This Year
Either people in Cleveland are feeling good after LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers brought a major title back to Cleveland for the first time in 52 years, or CTE is now airborne.
According to ESPN Staff Writer David Purdum, nearly 1,000 people have placed bets on the Cleveland Browns to win the Super Bowl this year at MGM sportsbooks in Las Vegas.
“Caesars Palace has accepted close to 750 bets on the Browns, and the ticket count on Cleveland at sportsbook operator CG Technology is approaching 500 and includes a $1,000 bet at 175-1 and a $500 bet at 200-1.
“City of champions, right?” MGM assistant manager Jeff Stoneback said with a laugh. “We’ve had the Cavs; the Indians are good. Why not the Browns?””
Pretty risky for a franchise that hasn’t sniffed the playoffs since 2002, and has only had 2 winning seasons since the Browns returned to Cleveland in 1999.
