This LeBron James Rookie Card is Expected to Sell for $200K

Are you a big LeBron James fan? Prove it. On October 1st, the Cavs superstar’s signed rookie card will be auctioned off to the public, and it’s expected to fetch no less than $200,000 when the hammer falls.

Why so much for a card that’s just 15 years old?

Because it’s one of a kind. The manufacturer, Upper Deck, slipped this autographed one-off into its packs, a la Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket.  So if you don’t take this chance to buy the card, it’s gone forever.

With 11 days left to bid, the card’s already reached $65,000.

The big winner here will be the collector who found the card in a pack. He’s held on to it for ten years and will reap the majority of the proceeds. This is considered the holy grail of LeBron James collectibles, according to the auction house manager, who said, “If you had the jersey he wore in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, this card is worth more.”
