Guy On Boat With Marlins Pitcher Jose Fernandez Texts Before Death: ‘It’s Not My Time Yet’
More details have emerged of what Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez and his two friends, Emilio Macia and Eduardo Rivero, were doing prior to his unfortunate passing in a boating accident in the early morning hours of Sunday.
Around 2:00 am, Jose Fernandez was spotted at a popular Miami waterfront bar, according to TMZ.
“Jose Fernandez was at a popular Miami waterfront party spot at least 90 minutes before his fatal boat crash … TMZ Sports has learned
Multiple sources have told us … Fernandez and at least one other person who was killed in the crash was at American Social Bar & Kitchen around 2 AM on Sunday morning.
When asked for specifics about what happened inside — including whether alcohol was served to Jose or his friends — a rep for the restaurant would only say, “Jose Fernandez was a guest at American Social.””
WPLG 10 spoke with friends of one of the men who was killed on the boat, Eduardo Rivero, and they stated Fernandez was visibly upset about something and wanted to relax out on the water because he was stressing out.
“Rivero’s friends said Fernandez was stressed out about something and needed to blow off steam on the water.
They said Rivero messaged another friend and was hesitant about going out on the boat, but went anyway to keep Fernandez close to shore.
One of Rivero’s last texts to a friend was: “Trust me. It’s not my time.””
