Tim Tebow has homered on the first pitch of his first at-bat as a professional baseball player.

Seriously. You cannot make this sh*t up.

Last month Tebow announced that he wanted to become a professional baseball player, and we all laughed. Then he worked out for every team in Major League Baseball, and we all laughed. Then he was signed by the New York Mets, and we all laughed.

But Tebow made his professional debut with the Mets’ instructional league club on Wednesday afternoon. And in his first professional at-bat against St. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect John Kilichowski, the Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback cracked a dinger to the opposite field.

When he finished rounding the bases, all his teammates were there to greet him. Take a look:

I’m not ready to say Tebow is going to make it as a professional baseball player. But for now, at least, the joke is clearly on us.

Now, will somebody please do me a favor and set this video to the music from The Natural? Thank you in advance.
