Korean Call of Clutch Hyun-soo Kim Home Run Is Awesome (Video)
Things got pretty crazy in the American League playoff race on Wednesday night. The Red Sox needed a win or a Blue Jays loss to wrap up the division title. Meanwhile the Orioles entered the night one game up on the Tigers for the second wild card spot, but two games behind the Blue Jays for the top spot.
In New York, the Red Sox took a 3-1 lead over the Yankees in the bottom of the ninth. In Toronto, the Blue Jays took a 2-1 lead over the Orioles in the top of the ninth. And in Detroit, the Tigers enjoyed a 6-3 win over the Indians. So it was looking like Boston would clinch the division, while the Blue Jays would take a commanding three-game lead in the wild card race, pushing the Orioles into a tie with the Tigers for the second wild card spot.
Then everything flipped. In New York, Mark Teixeia hit a walk-off grand slam to defeat the Red Sox. And in Toronto, with a runner on first, Hyun-soo Kim jacked a 3-2 pitch from Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna over the right field fence, preserving the O’s one-game lead over the Tigers and moving them within one game of the Blue Jays in the wild card race.
Obviously, the Hyun-soo Kim home run was a huge deal in Baltimore. But it was just as big a deal in Hyun-soo Kim’s native Korea. If you don’t believe it, check out the Korean call of his season-saving homer:
