Thanks to the Orioles, the legendary career of Red Sox slugger David Ortiz was just extended by three games.

The Sox needed a win or a Blue Jays loss to clinch, and they took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth against the Yankees. However, they wound up losing the game on a walk-off grand slam by Mark Teixeira.

Fortunately for them, at about the same time Mark Teixeira was hitting his grand slam in New York, the Orioles’ Hyun-soo Kim was hitting a two-run ninth inning homer off Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna in Toronto. And when the Orioles closed out the Jays in the bottom of the ninth, the Red Sox officially became the 2016 American League East division champions.

Of course, it’s only been two years since the Red Sox won the World Series. So it’s not like they ended some historic drought. However, this division championship is special because it comes in the final year of David Ortiz’s legendary career. And because Boston won’t have to play in the Wild Card game, their fans are guaranteed at least three more opportunities to watch Big Papi play.

So the Red Sox? They partied a lot harder than they might have otherwise.

Take a look:

Looks like fun. Big waste of booze, but fun.
