2 Days After Being Taken Off Field on Stretcher, Tennessee Kicks DL Danny O’Brien Off Team
Just a few days ago, Tennessee Volunteers defensive lineman Danny O’Brien was taken off the field on a stretcher during the team’s game against Texas A&M Aggies in College Station.
The scene left many fans upset and in pure shock as he was carted off the field to an ambulance.
After the initial shock, Danny was thankfully okay, but then came the shocking news as he was dismissed from the team due to an undisclosed violation of team rules.
Tennessee redshirt senior defensive lineman Danny O’Brien has been dismissed from the team for an undisclosed violation of team rules, according to a release from the Tennessee athletics department on Monday night. The release by the university said the dismissal was unrelated to O’Brien’s injury “however, should he require any additional care it will be provided by the University of Tennessee.”
Just last season, O’Brien was suspended from the team for another undisclosed violation of team rules. On Monday, he tweeted an apology and took full responsibility for his actions.
I take full responsibility. I’m grateful for my teammates, coaches, and Vol nation. It has been and honor to help bring this program back.
