Vikings Fan in Wisconsin Stabbed Seven Times Over Inflatable Lawn Decoration (Video + Pics)
Police say a Stoughton, Wisconsin, man was stabbed seven times on Sunday after he confronted a man who was vandalizing his inflatable Minnesota Vikings lawn decoration.
Vikings fan Dave Moschel, 36, was watching the Vikings beat the Texans when he heard a commotion outside. When he went out to see what was going on, he found an angry 21-year-old Packers fan slashing his giant inflatable Viking. The Packers fan then attacked Moschel with a box cutter.
The police were called at 7:12 p.m. Moschel was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released. He required multiple stitches to close up gashes on his forehead and under his eye, and now has some pretty grizzly scars just in time for Halloween.
On Monday, Moschel said he is recovering well and glad to be alive. But he also added that he’s glad the other guy is still alive, too.
“Luckily, I didn’t have my concealed carry on me at the time,” Moschel told WISC-TV. “Ninety-nine percent of the time I leave the house, I never leave without it. And this is the one time I did. I’m kind of glad I did, because he would have been dead, and I would have had to live with that.”
Police arrested the 21-year-old Packers fan on suspicion of reckless endangerment and criminal damage to property.
Amazingly, despite this terrifying incident, Moschel said he has no intention of taking down his Vikings decoration.
“[The inflatable] is going to get a little piece of Vikings duct tape put on there and it’s going to be blown up every day of the week from now on,” he said. “I’m still here, still living, still watching football.”
