One-Eyed Bullfighter Juan Jose Padilla Gets Gored in the Eye AGAIN (Video)
On Sunday, Spanish bullfighter Juan Jose Padilla was gored in the eye by an 1,150-pound bull named Aguador. The good news is that he did not lose his eye. The bad news is that it’s only because he’d already lost it when he was gored by another bull five years ago.
Padilla lost his left eye when he was gored by a bull in Zaragoza, Spain, back on October 7, 2011. He also suffered multiple fractures to his jaw and skull, facial paralysis, and loss of hearing in his right ear. Ever since then he’s worn a black eye patch over the cavity that used to house an eyeball, and his nickname has been El Pirata, which of course is Spanish for The Pirate.
On Sunday, once again in Zaragoza, El Pirata was gored in the left eye for the second time.
A fan caught footage of the incident on camera. It’s not particularly gory (pun intended), but it might still be difficult for some readers to stomach.
Amazingly, a photographer also managed to capture the exact moment the horn plunge into Padilla’s eye in high resolution. There is no blood, but the images are still pretty horrific. So we’ll give you a few chances to hit the back button before we show them to you.
Do not scroll any further unless you want to see a close-up shot of a bull goring a dude in the face.
Okay fine, here you go:
I don’t really like telling people how to live their lives. But in this case I’m going to make an exception and say Señor Padilla should probably go ahead and hang up his bejewelled bullfighting cape.
