Steve Bartman is ‘Overjoyed’ at the Cubs Win, but Still Won’t Attend the Parade
While there are fans out there that might be happier than Steve Bartman about a Cubs World Series win, you’d think that few would be more relieved than the guy who was vilified for costing the team a World Series birth 13 years ago. But that’s apparently not the case. According to his longtime spokesperson (perhaps the worst gig in sports), Frank Murtha, “He was just overjoyed that the Cubs won, as all the Cubs fans are.”
Said the lawyer and Barman’s buddy, “We don’t intend to crash the parade. The one thing that Steve and I did talk about was if the Cubs were to win, he did not want to be a distraction to the accomplishments of the players and the organization.’’
That’s nice. Hopefully, that’s the real reason and Bartman’s not avoiding out of fear. He’s had a tough road the past decade or so as a Cubs fan. Glad to hear he’s still cheering on the team and got to see this landmark win.
