Canucks Goalie Ryan Miller Makes Ridiculous Diving Glove Save to Prevent Empty Netter (Video)
Ryan Miller made a brilliant diving save on Thursday that even Fielding Bible Award winner Kevin Pillar would be proud of.
With the Vancouver Canucks trailing the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 late in the third period at Joe Louis Arena, Canucks coach Willie Desjardins decided he had nothing left to lose and signalled for Miller to head to the bench for an extra attacker. However, as soon as Miller got to the bench, the Red Wings regained control of the puck and headed back down the ice. And when they got to the center line, Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg fired a wrister on goal that looked like the dagger that would do the Canucks in for good. Only it wasn’t. Because Ryan Miller skated back as fast as he could and made a ridiculous diving glove save to rob the Wings of an empty netter.
Take a look:
Unfortunately Ryan Miller’s brilliant save did not spark an epic comeback from the Canucks. They still wound up losing the game 3-1. But his teammates (not to mention his fans) will surely remember that effort going forward.
