Bucs Safety Chris Conte on Beating Former Team: ‘F*ck You, Chicago’
Former Chicago Bears and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Chris Conte had his first career pick-six in the first quarter of Sunday’s game, which ended in a 36-10 win over the Bears.
Nobody was more excited about this win than Conte, and he made his feelings known about the city and the fan base after the game.
“I hate to make it personal, but for me it is personal,” he said. “It feels great. I don’t want to say, ‘(Expletive) you, Chicago.’ But, I want to say, ‘(Expletive) you, Chicago.'”
Conte’s time in Chicago received massive amounts of backlash from Bears fans for his poor play, and they let him know about it at every turn. Conte went on to praise Jay Cutler, who he thinks gets criticized way too much.
“I have a ton of respect for Jay Cutler,” Conte said. “I think he’s a great quarterback, and I think he gets a bad rap in Chicago, like a lot of people do, including me.”
Over his four years with the Bears, Conte had nine interceptions and 21 passes defended in 57 games (52 starts).
