Lindsey Vonn is catching all the wrong sorts of breaks these days.

In her first week training for the 2017 Alpine Skiing World Cup season, the American skiing champion suffered yet another devastating injury. The good news is that it was her arm this time, not her knee. The bad news is that it will keep her out for a while.

Vonn broke the humerus in her right arm in a crash on Thursday. On Friday she underwent successful surgery to repair the bone with a bunch of screws and metal rods, later posting photos of x-rays and a nasty 10-inch scar running down the back of her arm.

Take a look:

In February 2013 Vonn tore her ACL and MCL in her right knee and fractured her tibial plateau. The following November, while attempting to make a comeback for the 2014 season, she re-injured her knee. Then she re-injured it again in December, knocking her out of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Vonn made a triumphant return to the World Cup in 2015, winning the Downhill and Super-G titles while finishing third in the season standings, and in 2016 she was back in championship form. Vonn enjoyed a 28-point lead in the overall standings with a month left in the season. However, she fractured her knee again on a training run late in February 2016, forcing her to skip the remainder of the season.

Vonn’s broken arm probably won’t keep her out as long as the knee injuries. But it may prevent her from contending for an overall World Cup championship.

The good news is that she’s keeping a positive attitude about all this:

Here’s hoping Vonn is able to get back out on the slopes before the end of the year.
