Duke fans have a reputation for being unruly at home basketball games. That’s why they call them the Cameron Crazies. Unfortunately, one fan at Tuesday night’s Duke-Michigan State game was a little too unruly. Or at least, his sign was.

Prior to tipoff, Joe Ovies of North Carolina’s WRAL spotted a Duke fan with primo seats holding an incredibly tasteless sign mocking the ongoing Flint, Michigan water crisis.

Check it out:

In case you don’t follow the news very closely, in 2014 the city of Flint switched its water supply from the properly treated Detroit Water and Sewage Department to a local supply. However, they did not treat the water properly, which resulted in serious lead contamination and a major public health crisis affecting up to 12,000 children. Since then, both the State of Michigan and the Federal Government have declared a state of emergency, and nine people have been indicted for attempts to cover their incompetence. Meanwhile, the people of Flint still don’t have safe drinking water.

In short, it’s really not funny. Which is why Cameron security ejected the guy.

Amazingly, this is the second time this week that college sports fans have come under fire for making classless jokes about the Flint water crisis. Some Ohio State football fans made a similar joke over the weekend prior to their team’s game against Michigan.

Duke students are supposed to be smart. You would think they would have learned from the OSU situation. But apparently not.
