NFL Competition Committee Will Decide if Ravens’ Intentional Holding Will Be Legal in 2017
Last week, the Baltimore Ravens had a genius plan to end the game against the Cincinnati Bengals by holding every single player during a punt to intentionally run the clock out instead of giving them a chance to win the game.
The NFL’s competition committee will review whether the tactic used will be legal for the 2017 season and beyond, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The tactic worked because the clock can run out and the game can end on an offensive penalty, but not a defensive penalty.
