The Detroit Lions were 7-4 overall and 2-3 on the road heading into their Week 13 matchup against the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Saints, meanwhile, were 5-6 overall and just 3-3 at home. However, every single one of ESPN’s NFL experts picked the Saints to beat the Lions.

The Saints did not beat the Lions, though. Matthew Stafford went 30/42 with 341 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions, leading the Lions to a 28-13 thumping of the Saints. Drew Brees thew for 326 yards himself, but he had zero touchdowns and got picked off three times.

Picking the Saints to beat the Lions wasn’t crazy. But it was surprising that all of ESPN’s experts picked the Saints. That’s the kind of thing that happens to the Browns, or Bears, or Jaguars. And it rubbed the Lions the wrong way. So after they won, they made sure to rub it in ESPN’s face.

The Lions also gave props to Gordon McGuinness, the one writer over at Pro Football Focus who picked them to beat the Saints:

I don’t know if players and coaches pay attention to the so-called experts’ predictions, but the people running the Twitter accounts definitely do.
