Knicks Fans Troll Matt Barnes with Boisterous “Derek Fisher” Chant, Because They’re Savages (Video)
Knicks fans showed no mercy to Matt Barnes on Sunday night, chanting “Derek Fisher” at the Sacramento Kings forward as he tried to inbound the ball late in the fourth quarter.
Why? Allow me to explain.
You see Barnes, 36, and Fisher, 42, were once friends and teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers. However, that all changed when Fisher, who at that point was the head coach of the Knicks, started “dating” Barnes’s estranged wife, Gloria Govan. As you can imagine, that made Barnes very angry. So when he got a tip from a friend one night last October that Fisher was at a party in his former home, Barnes got in his car, drove 95 miles, and beat Fisher up.
Now, Knicks fans are not the first to harass Matt Barnes by chanting the name of his romantic rival. Pacers fans did the same thing last year when Barnes was playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. But Derek Fisher wasn’t the Pacers’ former coach.
