NFL VP of Officiating Weighs In on Kid’s Backyard Catch and Dog’s Tackle (Video + Tweet)
If you were looking for some proof that NFL refs and officials weren’t soulless robots that are kept in cool, dry pods between games, the league’s VP of Officiating has you covered.
Dean Blandino caught wind of this adorable and funny backyard football video in which a kid makes a catch (almost?), only to get totally dropped by his dog.
So, WAS IT A CATCH?
The ref honcho says:
Catch & fumble. Control, 2 feet, & turns up field before losing ball. Dog with legal hit and clear recovery https://t.co/uQJzZkU97p

Not only did the kid fumble, but the dog recovered. That must have really shifted the momentum of the game.
It’s nice to see someone NFL-related actually do something fun, if only for an instance. Nice work, Dean Blandino. We know life isn’t easy for you these days.
