Ronda Rousey Rips Floyd Mayweather & Conor McGregor for Their Money Obsession: ‘F*ck That’
It’s been a while since MMA star Ronda Rousey has spoken so candidly about other people—not since she was brought back to earth late last year courtesy of a Holly Holm beat-down that sidelined her over a year.
During a recent interview with ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Rousey ripped retired boxer Floyd Mayweather and MMA star Conor McGregor for the way they both boast about their riches and their constant need for more money.
“If money is the motivation, then f— that,” Rousey said. “All these ‘Money’ people … Money Mayweather, Money McGregor. I see they’re trying to do an angle or whatever. People buy it.
“The worship of money in our society is so deep. But just because that’s the easiest way to keep people’s attention or entertain them doesn’t mean that’s the right way.”
With Ronda being M.I.A. since last November, she was very thankful that Conor McGregor took the pressure off of her to come back so soon and gave her time to reevaluate some things and get healthy.
“Conor gave me the chance to rest, he took the weight off my shoulders, and I’m grateful,” Rousey said. “I will never put my body at risk for money and views ever again. What makes me happy is winning and being the best in the world and that’s it.
“F— all the promotion and energy spent on anything that’s not me winning. And anyone who tries to tell me I owe them energy on frivolous s— during camp out of ‘loyalty’ or ‘friendship’ deserves no loyalty from me and is no friend of mine. This is not a time for f—ing favors. This is a time for redemption and revenge.”
Ronda returns to the octagon December 30th against women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in Las Vegas.
