Seahawks Punter Jon Ryan Knocked Out Cold Running Ball on Fake Punt (Video)
As bad as the Rams have been over the past five years, they’ve always managed to give the Seahawks a hard time. There was just something about Jeff Fisher that Pete Carroll couldn’t figure out.
Fortunately for the Seahawks, the Rams finally fired Jeff Fisher this week. With him gone, Pete Carroll and the boys were able to handle the Rams on Thursday night.
Of course, Pete Carroll being Pete Carroll, he didn’t make it easy on himself. In the third quarter, on first and goal from the Rams one-yard line, Carroll decided to throw the ball rather than run it. Because apparently he still hasn’t learned that lesson.
Later in the fourth quarter Carroll made another questionable call. On a fourth and one on their own 27—with the Seahawks up by 21 points and just five minutes left in the game—Carroll called a fake punt.
Did I mention the Seahawks were up 21? Right. So you see how unnecessary that was.
Seahawks punter Jon Ryan was able to run the ball 26 yards right up the middle. But at the end of his run he fumbled. And while trying to corral that fumble, he wound up getting knocked out cold by a hit he didn’t see coming.
I’m talking totally unconscious. Take a look:
Karma’s a bitch, and she doesn’t like it when you run trick plays when you’re up by three touchdowns.
Fortunately, after a few minutes, Ryan was able to get up and walk off the field on his own steam.
