After two unsuccessful seasons with the team, the Buffalo Bills have decided to move on from head coach Rex Ryan.

The final straw was Saturday’s dreadful 34-31 overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins, which officially eliminated the Bills from the postseason—marking their 17th consecutive season of playoff-less football.

During the game, which the Bills needed to win (not tie) in order to stay alive, Ryan made a questionable call to punt the ball on fourth-down from his team’s own 41-yard line with only 4 minutes remaining in overtime.  Then, after giving the ball back to the Dolphins, the Bills defense had just 10 players on the field for a play that resulted in a 57-yard run for Jay Ajayi—which set up the game-winning field-goal.

Ryan posted a 15-16 record in his 31 games as the Bills head coach. His brother and Bills defensive coordinator, Rob Ryan, was also fired by the team.
