Big Ben Really Did Ask Tom Brady For His Jersey Because He Wanted To Hang It in His Office (Video)
Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady have six Super Bowl rings between them, and this Sunday they’ll square off for a chance to win another one. However, while the future Hall of Famers may be adversaries on the field, off the field they’re pretty chummy.
Roethlisberger didn’t get to play against Brady when the Patriots paid the Steelers a visit back in October because he was nursing a knee injury at the time. However, he did come out to say hello to Brady prior to the Pats’s 27-16 win, and during that meeting he asked Brady for a jersey to hang in his office.
Take a look:
This week, during a conference call with Patriots reporters ahead of the AFC Championship Game, Roethlisberger was asked if Brady followed through on his promise to give Big Ben his jersey.
Roesthlisberger said he did, and that he was “very appreciative.” However, he did not appreciate the fact that his request became a story.
“I hate that those things get taped and [heard] because it wasn’t meant for that,” Roethlisberger explained. “I have it hanging in my office. I have a lot of respect for him; I think that’s very well known. I think he’s one of, if not the greatest, quarterbacks of all time. It’s been an honor to play against him, to call him a competitor, and so I put it up in my office with the likes of the Marinos and Elways and Kellys and things like that.”
According to the laws of internet reporting, I believe this is where we officially start referring to Brady’s and Roethlisberger’s relationship as a bromance.
