Welp.

In the first quarter of the NFC divisional game against the Green Bay Packers, ahead 7-3, the Dallas Cowboys had the ball facing a 2nd & 5 on the Packer’s 37 yard-line. QB Dak Prescott completed a 22-yard pass to WR Terrence Williams, but officials called a penalty on Brice Butler for coming in the huddle and not participating in the play.

The play would have given the Cowboys a first down on the Packers’ 16-yard line. Instead, Dallas was facing 2nd & 20 on their own 48-yard line, and they were forced to punt after Prescott didn’t complete the next two throws in Butler’s direction.

“[We] couldn’t beat the stripes. You can quote me on that,” Butler told the Dallas Morning News.

The NFL has now admitted that the Cowboys should not have been penalized on the play.

According to Michael Lombardi.

However, NFL’s VP of officiating Dean Blandino wasn’t having any of that and proceeded to tweet that the call was correct.
