Johnny Manziel Explains Decision to Quit Twitter: “I Need to Shut the Hell Up”

On Monday, Johnny Manziel tweeted some pretty solid advice at President Trump, telling him to ignore what people say about him on Twitter and focus instead on running the country. Then, just like that, the former NFL quarterback packed up and deleted his account.

It was one hell of a mic drop. And to be honest, we’d all be better off if the POTUS followed suit. We really don’t need the leader of the free world getting into arguments with celebrities on Twitter.

So what was behind Manziel’s decision to quit Twitter cold turkey? The folks at TMZ asked him that very question, and he was more than happy to provide an answer.

“Twitter has been nothing but a distraction for me,” the former Heisman winner explained. “I’ve said all I can say. Now I need to shut the hell up and work on bettering myself and my situation.”

This is the second time this month that Manziel has admitted that he needs to get his shit together. Last week he said “I was a douche in 2016” and “I’m just trying to be a good person again.”

Of course, he said that on Twitter, ironically enough. Time will tell if quitting Twitter actually helps Manziel straighten up.
