Retiring Brent Musberger Gets Farewell Message from Katherine Webb (Tweet + Video)

katherine webb congratulates brent musburger on retirement

On Wednesday it was announced that legendary sportscaster Brent Musburger is retiring at the age of 77. Musburger started his career with CBS way back in 1973, and he’s been with ABC/ESPN since 1990. His last game for ESPN will be an SEC men’s basketball showdown between Georgia and Kentucky on January 31.

Of course, most legendary sportscasters are famous for one particular call. For Al Michaels it’s “Do you believe in miracles? Yes!” For Jack Buck it was “I don’t believe what I just saw!” For Jack’s son Joe Buck it will probably be “That is a disgusting act!”

Brent’s iconic call? Probably “You quarterbacks you get all the good-looking women! What a beautiful woman! Wow!”

For those of you who don’t remember, that one came during the 2013 National Championship Game between Alabama and Notre Dame. Musburger was talking about Bama QB A.J. McCarron‘s then-girlfriend, now-wife Katherine Webb.

Musburger’s commentary basically made Webb famous and launched her media career. So it’s only fitting that, upon hearing news of his retirement, Webb chimed in to offer a special word of thanks.

Take a look:

Well played, Katherine Webb.
