The Cavaliers Are Reportedly Interested in Carmelo Anthony, But Won’t Give Up Kevin Love
Losers of 7 of their last 11 games, the Cleveland Cavaliers are in desperation mode while the Warriors continue to surge towards another possible NBA Finals appearance.
One week after telling the New York Knicks they weren’t interested in trading for Carmelo Anthony, the Cavs have reportedly changed their minds…somewhat.
The Cavs are now interested in acquiring Melo, but they don’t want to give up Kevin Love in the process (as the Knicks initially asked for a week ago) sources told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.
“The New York Knicks continue to pursue Kevin Love in advance of the Feb. 23 trade deadline despite the Cleveland Cavaliers’ unwillingness to part with the All-Star forward in a deal for Carmelo Anthony, according to league sources.Sources said the Cavaliers, meanwhile, do maintain an interest in Anthony — which would pair him with Cleveland star and close friend LeBron James — but only if a deal can be struck without the league’s reigning champions surrendering Love.ESPN first reported last week that the Cavaliers had rebuffed the Knicks’ attempts to swing an Anthony-for-Love swap.”
Anthony has two seasons remaining on his contract beyond this season worth $54.2 million.
