Evander Kane Crashed Head-First Into Boards After Netting OT Winner (Video)
Buffalo Sabres party animal Evander Kane scored a gorgeous overtime goal to lift the Sabers over the Sharks on Tuesday night, but he had to pay a pretty steep price to do it.
The Sabres trailed the Sharks 4-1 midway through the third period. However, they rallied to tie the game at 4-4 with a full eight minutes to spare. In overtime, future-of-the-franchise Jack Eichel broke out of the Buffalo zone and established a two-on-one with Kane. Eichel then dealt Kane a perfect saucer pass past San Jose defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic, and the Winger buried it top-shelf to give his team a much-needed overtime victory.
Unfortunately, after scoring the goal, Kane tripped over Sharks netminder Martin Jones and crashed head-first into the boards at close to full speed.
The good news is that Kane didn’t break his neck. After lying on the ice for about a minute while his teammates celebrated all around him, Kane slowly but surely got to his feet and skated off the ice. However, you can bet he’s experiencing some neck and shoulder soreness today.

That’s a hell of an effort from Evander Kane. I guess it’s like they say: no guts, no glory.
