LaMelo Ball, Little Bro of UCLA Star Lonzo Ball, Scores 92 Points in High School Game (Video)
UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball will never get to play college hoops with his little brother, LaMelo Ball. LaMelo is only a sophomore in high school, and while he’s committed to playing at UCLA, there’s no way Lonzo is actually going to stick around for a full four years—not with experts saying he’ll be a lottery pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
The economics of the situation are certainly understandable. But it’s still a shame Bruins fans won’t get to see the Ball Brothers play together. Because it turns out LaMelo might be even better than Lonzo.
On Tuesday night, LaMelo Ball scored an insane 92 points in Chino Hills’ 146-123 win over Los Osos High. While he was a pedestrian 7-for-22 from three-point range, Ball was an amzing 30-for-39 from inside the arc. He also converted 11-of-14 free throws, dished seven assists, and grabbed five rebounds.
Incredibly, at halftime Ball had just 29 points. He then scored another 22 in the third quarter and a whopping 41 in the fourth.
So what was behind Ball’s monster game? LaMelo told ESPN’s Myron Medcalf that he had dedicated the game to a classmate named Lexi who is in the hospital. So his teammates just kept giving him the ball and telling him to shoot. And the shots just kept going in.

LaMelo’s dad, Lavar Ball, who is also the Chino Hills coach, attributed the outburst to the fact that Chino had just had it’s 61-game winning streak snapped over the weekend.
“My boys get mad when they lose,” Lavar Ball said. “[LaMelo] started on fire. Just attacking the rim. They tried to double- and triple-team him after he scored 45.”

UCLA fans are going to have a lot of fun watching this kid in a few years.
