Roddy White Claims Charles Barkley Lost $100K Betting on Falcons In Super Bowl
A few weeks ago, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James took a shot at TNT’s Charles Barkley by stating he has a gambling problem, and he may have been correct. Barkley reportedly lost a ton of money betting on the Atlanta Falcons to defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 51. (And we all saw how that turned out.)
According to former NFL wide receiver Roddy White, who was a recent guest on the “We Never Played the Game” podcast with Jeff Schultz and Zach Klein, Barkley walked away losing $100K after that second half collapse.
White revealed that he lost $40,000 on the game in Las Vegas as well, but clearly it could have been worse.
“He said he was hanging out with Barkley at a Super Bowl party at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas when Barkley revealed his bet on Atlanta before the game.
“He [Barkley] was like ‘I just bet $100K on the Falcons,’” White said.
White said he was feeling confident during the game, so he tried to reassure Barkley that everything was going to be OK.
“I told him, ‘Don’t worry, just get your chips ready. Everything’s going to be great,’” White said.
If it makes either of them feel any better, they weren’t the only ones to lose a large sum of money on the Falcons.
Nevada sportsbooks handled $138.48 million in Super Bowl wagers , winning $10.93 million off bettors, according to the state’s Gaming Control Board.
