Texas Forward Jarrett Allen Humiliates West Virginia Defender with Thunderous Dunk (Video)
Texas Longhorns freshman Jarrett Allen is not expected to declare for the NBA draft this year. But if he does, it is hard to imagine he would not get picked.
Through 28 games this season, the 6’11” 235-pound forward is averaging 13.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks. And that’s good, but it does not tell the whole story. To know the whole story, you’ve got to see this kid play.
On Sunday night Texas was in Morgantown taking on no. 12 West Virginia. Shaka Smart‘s Longhorns were really no match for Bob Huggins‘ Mountaineers, ultimately losing 77-62. However, the play of the game came from Jarrett Allen.
With about two-and-a-half minutes left in the first half and WVU up by 13, Allen takes a pass from Andrew Jones in the low post. He then takes one step toward the basket, leaps up, and throws down a monster dunk over the Mountaineers’ Sabaga Konate that the play-by-play guy immediately (and correctly) declares a dunk-of-the-year candidate.
Take a look:
Saturday night’s NBA Slam Dunk contest was a little underwhelming. Fortunately Jarrett Allen stepped up to fill the void.
Texas may be having a pretty terrible year, but at least the fans get to watch this kid.
