Vice Documentary Reveals Just How Batsh*t Insane Russian Soccer Hooligans Really Are (Video)
A new five-minute Vice News documentary published on Thursday offers an inside look into the world of Russian soccer hooligans, and it is absolutely terrifying.
Unlike soccer hooligans in other countries, Russian soccer hooligans are not just loose collections of drunken shitheads. They are highly organized into individual supporters groups called firms. And these firms train extensively in fighting techniques and brawl strategy.
When they travel to major soccer events such as last year’s Euro 2016 in France, Russian firms don’t pick fights on a whim. They plan their brawls down to the last detail. Possible locations and opponents are scouted, and individual members are coached in exactly what tactics to employ.
According to the Vice News doc, Russian soccer hooligan firms are basically roving bands of MMA fighters. And authorities are justifiably worried about what will happen next summer when Russia hosts the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Take a look:
Honestly, unless the Russians round up all the hooligan firm ringleaders and put them in jail for a month, I’d think twice about taking a trip to the 2018 World Cup. Who knows what kind of chaos you might inadvertently walk into.
