Trail Blazers Big Man Jusuf Nurkic Has Two Teeth Knocked Out, Stays in Game (Video)

The Portland Trail Blazers were in Toronto on Sunday night taking on the Raptors, and apparently that had Portland center Jusuf Nurkic feeling like a hockey player.

Midway through the fourth quarter, with the Blazers trailing the Raptors by five, Nurkic went up for a rebound against Toronto’s P.J. Tucker. While Nurkic initially got whistled for putting both hands on Tucker’s back, Tucker came away with a technical after inadvertently smashing Nurkic’s face with his forearm and knocking out a couple of chickets while going for the ball.

After lying on the floor for a few minutes, Nurkic got up, handed his two front teeth to Portland trainer Geoff Clark, and stayed in the game.

Take a look:

Obviously those were crowns, not his real teeth. But getting your crowns knocked out still hurts like hell. And in this age of over-the-top floppers, it’s refreshing to see somebody act like a warrior out there.

The good news for Nurkic: in a hockey mad town like Toronto, it’s easy to find an after-hours dentist.

The bad news: Portland still lost 112-106.
