LaVar Ball Says The 3 White Guys Were the Reason UCLA Didn’t Win Title
After the UCLA Bruins got eliminated from the NCAA tournament, LaVar Ball wasn’t in the news as much as he was for the first 3 months of the year.
That all changed recently when he delivered his next batch of controversial comments about why the Bruins didn’t win it all, as he predicted.
“Realistically you can’t win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow,” Ball said, per Clay Fowler of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. “I told Lonzo—’One of these games you might need to go for 30 or 40 points.’ It turned out the that was the one game. Then once they get to the Elite 8, they’re right there.”
It is assumed Ball was referring to Bryce Alford, T.J. Leaf and Thomas Welsh, three white starters for the Bruins. His son Lonzo had a dismissal game. He went 4-of-10 shooting from the field for only 10 points, while his counterpart De’Aaron Fox lit him up and scored 39 points for Kentucky.
