WVU Pitcher Snags Line Drive with Bare Hand, then Throws to First to Complete Epic Double Play (Video)

WVU pitcher snags line drive with bare hand double play

If you’re a baseball fan, you’ve probably been soaking up as many MLB highlights as humanly possible from the first few days of the 2017 MLB season. However, if all the major league action still has not satiated your appetite for the national pastime, today we’ve got a sick highlight for you from the world of college baseball.

The highlight comes to us from Alek Manoah, a 6’6″ 260-pound freshman pitcher/first baseman for the West Virginia Mountaineers. Manoah took the mound on Wednesday for WVU’s home game against the Morehead State Eagles. In the top of the second, with a runner on first and nobody out, a Morehead batter hit a soft liner back up the middle to the right of Manoah. However, the pitcher used his cat-like reflexes to reach out and make an awesome barehanded grab. Then he threw the ball to first base to double up the runner.

Take a look:

That was one hell of a play by the big freshman. But good God almighty are those uniforms ugly. I could only bring myself to watch the play a few times before I got dizzy and had to go lie down.
