Seattle Mariners To Offer Toasted Grasshoppers at Safeco Field This Season
After a 4-game series to open up the season against the Houston Astros, and a 3-game series against the Angels, the Seattle Mariners will finally have their home opener on Monday.
When they do open the doors at Safeco Field, fans will be treated to a new appetizer this year. In partnership with their concessionaire, Centerplate, the Mariners will offer toasted grasshoppers, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.

Fans will be able to buy a cup filled with grasshoppers tossed in chili lime salt from Mexican restaurant Poquitos for $4.
“They are a one-of-a-kind snack that the fans will really love – either on a taco or on their own,” said Steve Dominguez, Centerplate concession stands general manager at Safeco. “It’s a testament to our relationship with the Mariners to be bold and creative with bringing in new local partners that really embody the Seattle culinary scene.”
“We don’t expect to sell a lot of them, but it’s a fun thing to offer and it’s an authentic,” Mariners spokesperson Rebecca Hale told Rovell.
