LaVar Ball Doubles Down on Comments: ‘Realistic Fact’ You Can’t Win With Slow White Players
Earlier this week, LaVar Ball set social media on fire once again with controversial comments.
The father of UCLA freshman Lonzo Ball told the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin the reason behind the UCLA Bruins not being able to win the NCAA Tournament.
“Realistically you can’t win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow,” Ball said, per Clay Fowler of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. “I told Lonzo—’One of these games you might need to go for 30 or 40 points.’ It turned out the that was the one game. Then once they get to the Elite 8, they’re right there.”
The next day, he was a guest on CBS Sports Radio to address his controversial statement, and he doubled down by stating what he said wasn’t racist. Instead, he claimed it’s “just a realistic fact.”
“But I said prove me wrong that you can’t win nowadays with three white guys on the floor at the same time,” Ball says. “I’m not saying I don’t like white people and white people can’t win or nothing like that.”
“I’m just saying when you have more athleticism (on the floor), it’s kind of hard when you don’t have the foot speed. That’s just a realistic fact.”
“It’s not racial. I can’t be racial. Some people just take it the wrong way and that’s okay.”
