Carrie Underwood Blows Roof Off Bridgestone Arena with Surprise Anthem Performance (Video)
Having a captain who’s married to a country music superstar has its perks. Just ask the Nashville Predators.
On Sunday the Preds arranged for Carrie Underwood to give fans a surprise performance of the Star Spangled Banner prior to Game 3 of their first round Western Conference playoff series against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Everybody knew Underwood would be at the game, seeing as how she’s married to team captain Mike Fisher. But apparently nobody knew she was going to perform the anthem. So when the PA announcer introduced her it blew the lid off an already electric Bridgestone Arena.

Did you notice Underwood say “whoa” after she was introduced? If somebody who makes a living singing before 20,000 screaming fans every night is impressed with how loud your fans are, you know you’re doing something right.
When Carrie Underwood married Mike Fisher back in 2009, he still played for the Ottawa Senators. But in 2011 the Sens traded Fisher to Nashville for a couple of draft picks.
Of course, the deal has worked out well for the Preds when it comes to hockey, but it’s worked out even better when it comes to marketing. The captain of the hockey team that plays in the country music capital of the world is married to one of the biggest names in country music. Talk about synergy.
