Things Got Heated Between Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley During and After Game 5 (Video)
The Houston Rockets finished off the Oklahoma City Thunder with a 105-99 Game 5 victory on Tuesday night, bringing Russsell Westbrook‘s historic season to an unceremonious end.
Westbrook didn’t go down without a fight, though. And I’m not talking about his 47 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists.
Midway through the fourth quarter, with the Thunder trailing the Rockets by three, Westbrook and Houston defensive specialist Patrick Beverley got into a heated discussion after they got tangled up going for a loose ball. Fortunately their teammates stepped in and separated the two before things had a chance to get physical.

After the game, the trash talk continued.
Here’s what Beverley told the media:
“That was actually the first time we’ve exchanged words this postseason, but he’s a really good player… He looked up and said, ‘No one can guard me. I got 40 points.’ I’m like, ‘That’s nice. It took 34 shots to get it.’ I’m not over here trying to bash anybody. Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t. Collectively as a unit, we’ve done a great job on him, we’ve tried to make him shoot a lot of tough shots, and the numbers show.
Here’s what Russ had to say:
Oh yeah, he was talking about how he was first-team all-defense, but I didn’t know what he was talking about because I had 42 at the time in the series. I don’t know what he was talking about. Maybe he was dreaming or some (expletive). I don’t know. Sorry, excuse my cuss word. I don’t know what he was talking about, but I guess he wanted to be first-team all-defense or something. Maybe he was dreaming about it. I don’t know.

I guess they’ll just have to agree to disagree. Should be pretty fun the first time these teams meet up next season.
