Dodgers Pay Tribute to Vin Scully by Adding Him to Their Ring of Honor (Video)
When legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully retired at the end of last season, it marked the end of an era. And not just for Dodgers fans. Over the course of his 67 years behind the mic, Scully had endeared himself to baseball fans everywhere with his gregarious demeanor and fantastic anecdotes that bridged the gaps between generations of baseball fans.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers welcomed Scully back to Dodger Stadium for the first time since his retirement so they could honor his contribution to baseball by adding his name to their Ring of Honor.
Dodgers great Tommy Lasorda unveiled the plaque out in left field, and manager Dave Roberts introduced him to the crowd. Then a humble Scully took the microphone. He told some amazing stories about other players enshrined in the Dodgers’ Ring of Honor, thanked the team, and then threw in a few of his famous catch phrases for good measure.
Skip to the 6:00 mark for the unveiling of Vin’s plaque and his amazing speech:
No doubt about it, Vin Scully is the greatest of all time.
