‘Area 21’ 2008 Celtics Reunion Scheduled For Monday On TNT…Ray Allen Not Invited
It’s been almost a decade since the Boston Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals to capture their 17th title in franchise history. Next year will mark the 10-year anniversary and Chicago Bulls PG Rajon Rondo wanted to celebrate with a trip with his former teammates, except for Ray Allen.
Ray Allen still has not been forgiven by many of those Celtics players for jumping ship in the summer of 2012 to join the rival Miami Heat, who the Celtics hated at that time.
“I asked a couple of the guys. I got a no, a no head shake,” Rondo told The Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears, when asked why Allen hasn’t been invited to the celebration.
“It will be a long story about that, but it is what it is. I don’t know a good analogy to put this in. It just wasn’t the greatest separation. It wasn’t the greatest thing that could’ve happened to us as a team, a bond. We were at war with (the Heat). To go with the enemy, that’s unheard of in sports.”
Fast forward to May and former Boston Celtics power forward and TNT host Kevin Garnett plans to bring along his 2008 championship teammates Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins, Glen “Big Baby” Davis and recently retired Paul Pierce as guests of his show, Area 21, for Monday’s broadcast of Game 4 between the Golden State Warriors and the Utah Jazz, the network announced.

Ray Allen will also not be there as he wasn’t invited and it’s for the same reason Rondo didn’t invite him on the 10-year celebratory trip.
