Sixers Fans Raise Sam Hinkie Banner Commemorating “The Process” at Draft Lottery Party (Video)
When Philadelphia 76ers hired Sam Hinkie to be their general manager in 2013, he immediately embarked on a three-year quest to dismantle the team and acquire as many premium draft picks as possible. Hinkie knew it would not be easy for the team’s diehard fans to endure such a painful rebuild, but he famously implored them to “trust the process.”
Four years later, the Philadelphia 76ers are still bad. But their roster is now loaded with elite prospects like Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, and the draft picks just keep on coming. So things are definitely looking up.
As for the fans, they have demonstrated their willingness to “trust the process” in the past. But they took their appreciation of Sam Hinkie’s rebuild philosophy to a new level on Tuesday.
Prior to the NBA Draft Lottery, Sixers fans raised a Sam Hinkie “Trust the Process” banner to the rafter’s at the XFinity Live! entertainment complex across the street from the Wells Fargo Center.

Appropriately enough, not long after this banner was raised, Sixers fans got to watch their team win the third overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft thanks to a shrewd trade Hinkie made with the Sacramento Kings back in 2015.
After that pleasing turn of events, it wasn’t just Sixers fans showing love to Sam Hinkie. Team owner Josh Harris was feeling appreciative as well.
