Steve Kerr on Warriors as NBA Finals Favorites: “Are You Kidding Me?” (Video)

Steve Kerr media scrum

Despite the fact that the Cleveland Cavaliers won the latest NBA Finals battle between them and the Golden State Warriors last season, Vegas is still pegging the Warriors as favorites when the two teams meet in this year’s finals for the third consecutive season.

Most fans would have to agree with Vegas on this one, what with the Dubs having added superstar Kevin Durant in the offseason—not to mention their perfect 12-0 run through their first three playoff series.

But despite all of that, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr still doesn’t think his team should be getting so much credit.  In fact, he seems to think it’s pretty ridiculous that everyone’s calling his club the favorites.

Here’s what Kerr had to say when reporters asked about it on Monday:

“But we fully respect and are aware that this team that we’re playing, they’re the champions. We’re not. I saw the quote from Kevin Love. He said he’s surprised. I’m surprised, too. What the hell is everyone talking about? Are you kidding me? They’re a great team. They’re the champs. We’re trying to take what they took from us last year.”

And here’s the clip:

Sounds like Kerr is trying to give his own club some chalkboard material.

You can’t fool me, Steve. I’ve already read that chapter in “Coaching Motivational Techniques For Dummies.”
